Intensely Tango

Two weeks after Oscar’s physical departure, I felt the need to sing again.
The sound, the vibration of each note, is something that allows us —among many other things— to stir the pain within… or at least, that’s how it is for me at this moment.
I’m often asked: What do you like more, dancing or singing?
My answer is simple: both! Although they are completely different experiences. When I dance, I turn my back to the world, embraced by another person, feeling and focusing on what moves inward. When I sing, on the other hand, I face the world, releasing everything I carry inside that needs to be expressed.
Today, I can finally see the result of everything that began to emerge from within me and share it with the world: six tangos recorded together with the great pianist Miguel Pereiro, a musician full of talent and sensitivity, who knew how to put his art at the service of my expressiveness.
In these months I was fortunate to have someone who became a teacher of enormous value in my path as a singer: Carlos Rossi, the last great vocalist of José Basso.
He was able to see what was hidden inside me and, through his immense capacity for listening and analysis, helped me identify what I still needed to find: “my own fingerprint,” as he calls it.
If there is something that became clear to me throughout these months and all the work done with Carlos Rossi, it is that, when singing, we have the “obligation” to express every word “with the heart in the throat” —borrowing the title of his book—, knowing that our vocal cords are in fact “vocal brushes” with which we paint the work that the musician and the lyricist created for eternity.
I feel happy to share with the world this new work, into which I poured all of myself, and which I hope will be the beginning of a journey where I can express my authenticity without filters or disguises.
